Congressman Takano endorses Lieu for Congress

LOS ANGELES – Congressional candidate and State Senator Ted Lieu today announced the endorsement of Congressman Mark Takano in the race to replace retiring Rep. Henry Waxman. Takano represents Congressional District 41, which covers parts of Riverside and San Bernardino County. Lieu is running for Congressional District 33. Takano is the fourth member of Congress to endorse Lieu, and one of over 70 local and state elected official endorsers.

"I am endorsing Ted Lieu for Congress because he has been a stalwart champion for the middle class and for equality,” said Congressman Mark Takano “Ted authored landmark legislation to reform California's subprime mortgage industry and prevent foreclosures.  Last year, his first-in-the-nation law to ban 'gay conversion' therapy for minors has resulted in numerous states introducing similar laws.  Ted's legislation has already helped countless individuals and I know he will be a terrific member of Congress."

State Senator Ted Lieu’s current district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.

The 33rd Congressional District stretches from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Malibu along the Los Angeles County coast.
