California Teachers Association Endorses Ted Lieu for Congress

Today -The California Teachers Association today threw their support behind Ted Lieu in his run for Congressional District 33. The 325,000 member organization has a history of backing candidates who are strong public education advocates. Lieu is running to replace Rep. Henry Waxman, who will retire at the end of the year.

“Ted Lieu has stood with us for smaller class sizes, strong educational standards, and a safe learning environment in our public schools throughout his years of public service,” said CTA President Dean E. Vogel. “Ted has always been a strong advocate for fully funding our public schools and colleges, which are finally beginning to heal from years of devastating cuts. We strongly endorse Ted Lieu for Congress, and look forward to his leadership in Washington.”

The California Teachers Association represents teachers, counselors, school librarians, social workers, psychologists, and nurses throughout the state of CA. These educators in the K-12 school system are joined by community college faculty, California State University faculty, and education support professionals to make CTA the most inclusive and most powerful voice of educators in the state.

State Senator Ted Lieu's district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33.  Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and Senate.
