Huge Momentum for Lieu in the race to replace retiring Rep. Waxman
Ted Lieu for Congress today announced the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in the race to succeed Rep. Henry Waxman. Today’s endorsement by Mayor Garcetti is a huge boost of momentum for Lieu as the race enters the final leg before Tuesday’s election.
After endorsing Lieu for Congress, Mayor Garcetti said:
"Tuesday's election is extremely important for the future of our region. That's why I am endorsing Ted Lieu for Congress. Ted is not only the most qualified candidate, but the type of person we need in Washington - intelligent, ethical and relentless as a representative for our community. He has shown tremendous leadership on important issues of our time including climate change, healthcare and protecting victims of domestic violence. I am confident that Ted Lieu is the best candidate to strengthen the middle class, create more jobs and help workers save for retirement."
“The Mayor has brought tremendous leadership to Los Angeles and I look forward to working with him to improve our economy and strengthen the middle class,” said Lieu. “I can’t thank the Mayor enough for his support of our campaign for Congress.”
Mayor Garcetti joins an impressive list of support, including the California Democratic Party, the California League of Conservation Voters, the Peace Officers Research Association of California, Crime Victims United, Congresswoman Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Councilmembers Mike Bonin, Paul Koretz and Bill Rosendahl (ret).
State Senator Ted Lieu's district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and State Senate.
