Secretary Norm Mineta Endorses Ted Lieu for Congress

LOS ANGELES – Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, who served in Congress for over 20 years as well as in the Cabinets of both Democratic and Republican presidents, today endorsed Senator Ted Lieu for Congressional District 33.  Secretary Mineta joins a growing list of over 80 federal, statewide and local elected officials.

"I have known Ted Lieu for many years.  I first met Ted when he was an active duty captain in the United States Air Force.  I presented him with a federal leadership award for his distinguished service.  I knew then that he was a rising star,” said Secretary Mineta.  “Ted has shown tremendous leadership in fighting for equality and is an exceptional state legislator.  I know Ted will be an outstanding Member of Congress and I am proud to endorse him."

"I honored to have the support of Secretary Mineta, a true leader for California and our country on so many important issues including the economy, civil rights and transportation," said Senator Lieu.

Lieu, whose district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33, is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.

The 33rd Congressional District stretches from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Malibu along the Los Angeles County coast.
