State Assembly Speaker John A. Perez Endorses Ted Lieu for Congress

Sacramento, CA - The Speaker of the California State Assembly John A. Perez weighed in today on the race to succeed Congressman Henry Waxman in CD33, throwing his full support behind State Senator Ted Lieu.

"Ted and I have worked closely to get California's economy back on track.  He's made tough decisions and has been a leader for job creation and economic growth," said John A. Pérez Speaker of the Assembly.   "Ted's smarts, skills, tenacity and record make him the best choice for Congress."

John A. Perez represents the 53rd Assembly District which neighbors Congressional District 33. Perez joins a long list of statewide and national elected leaders who support Lieu. Congressmembers Karen Bass, Alan Lowenthal and Maxine Waters; State Controller John Chiang; State Board of Equalization Member Jerome Horton; state Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg; State Senators Kevin de Leon, Ricardo Lara and Holly Mitchell and Assemblymembers Al Muratsuchi, Isadore Hall and Sebastian Ridley-Thomas have all endorsed Lieu.

State Senator Ted Lieu’s current district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.
