State Treasurer Bill Lockyer Endorses Ted Lieu for Congress

Lockyer second statewide official to endorse Lieu this week

Sacramento, CA – State Senator Ted Lieu earned his second Statewide endorsement of the week, with the backing of California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer today. State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones also threw his support behind Lieu earlier this week to succeed Congressman Henry Waxman for Congressional District 33.

“Ted Lieu’s proven leadership on the economy, job creation and the environment will serve him well in Congress. We need someone who really understands these issues and is not afraid to reach across the aisle, even in the face of financial crisis. Ted Lieu is that person and I strongly support him for Congress.” – said State Treasurer Bill Lockyer.

State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, a statewide elected constitutional officer, joins an impressive list of over 50 local and surrounding elected officials who have endorsed Lieu.

State Senator Ted Lieu’s current district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.

The 33rd Congressional District stretches from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Malibu along the Los Angeles County coast.
