Ted Lieu Gains Support of Three Santa Monica City Councilmembers

Lieu is running to replace Rep. Henry Waxman in CD 33

LOS ANGELES - The local support for Ted Lieu for Congress continued to pour in on Wednesday as three Santa Monica City Councilmembers announced their support for the State Senator from Torrance. Santa Monica City Councilmembers Kevin McKeownTed Winterer and Tony Vazquez each threw their support behind Lieu in the race to replace Rep. Henry Waxman who will retire at the end of this year.

Santa Monica City Councilmember Kevin McKeown said of Lieu:
 
"I have known Ted Lieu for many years and worked with him on issues important to Santa Monica.  From his time in the Assembly to now in the Senate, Ted has been a fighter for the environment, housing, and transportation.  Working with Ted I’ve been struck by his authenticity and willingness to learn his constituents’ needs, and then proactively pursue solutions.  I am honored to endorse Ted Lieu for Congress."
 
 
Santa Monica City Councilmember Ted Winterer added:
 
"I endorse Ted Lieu for Congress because he has consistently championed the priorities of constituents in Santa Monica and the district.  He has repeatedly taken on air and noise pollution issues, is a fighter for sustainability and open space, and has stood up to powerful interests on behalf of his constituents.  I know Ted will be an outstanding member of Congress and I am proud to endorse him."
 
 
Santa Monica City Councilmember Tony Vazquez praised the Congressional candidate saying:
 
"Ted Lieu has always fought for quality of life issues for the residents of Santa Monica and the constituents in his district.  From holding important local hearings on air and noise pollution to working to save Paul Conrad's Chain Reaction peace sculpture in Santa Monica, Ted truly understands the local community.  That is why I am honored to endorse Ted for Congress." 
 
State Senator Ted Lieu’s current district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.
