Ted Lieu Wins Vote for Democratic Party Endorsement

Landslide Victory over Greuel Awarded by CD 33 Party Delegates & Activists

LOS ANGELES - Congressional candidate Ted Lieu decisively won today's Democratic Party endorsement vote.  Lieu received 73.7% to Wendy Greuel's 8.7%.

"I am honored and humbled to receive the overwhelming support of local democratic delegates and activists," said Senator Lieu. "I have been privileged to not only live in this district, but to represent and champion issues important to democrats."

Because Lieu received over 70% of the vote from local democrats, the endorsement bypasses a caucus vote at the State Convention and instead is placed on the Consent Calendar, a non-controversial vote on March 9, 2014.

Those eligible to vote in today's caucus are the delegates to the California Delegate Party,  representatives of a local democratic club or the members of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party who live in Congressional District 33.

Senator Lieu's current district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33.  Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and the California State Senate.

The 33rd Congressional District stretches from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Malibu along the Los Angeles County coast.
